BIRTH RECORDS

      Finding Birth Records for the Coppola Family has been a challenge, especially for Margaret, Ferdinando [1], and Carmella. Provided below are Birth Certificates, Birth Records, Birth Registers, and Baptism Certificates found to date. Here's some info:

1. Original Records - these are best. Italian records for Frank, Antonetta, and Nicola are original administrative records. For East Douglas, I could only find "original" Birth Certificates for Frances and Frankie.
2. Birth Registers - documents found online for Town of Douglas. Appropriate "line number" is listed in title.
3. Record of Births - in September 2019, I made a request to Douglas Town Clerk to get "original" birth records for the 13 Coppolas born in Douglas. Unfortunately, they did not have original Birth Certificates (perhaps lost when Town Hall basement was flooded) and they provided certified transcriptions. This is actually the information presented in the Birth Register. Here is a letter from the Douglas Town Clerk's office.
4. Names noted are names recorded on document. For example, "Francisco" was recorded in 1918; that should be "Francesca" [Frances].
5. Some Coppola births were recorded late: Henry's 1912 birth was added (delayed) in 1969; Tony's 1916 birth was recorded in 1918.
